StarLab is an inflatable dome onto which star and constellation maps can be projected to take learners on a virtual tour of the universe. It is a portable system which is easily transported and inflated, and can comfortably accommodate a class of children, or a group of adults.
Students explored StarLabs potential as an immersive way of introducing children to astronomy and the night sky, seeking to develop more creative and inventive interdisciplinary uses of the resource. Students found creative ways of utilising StarLab: turning it into a space to tell stories and mythologies related to constellations, as a stimulus for art, drama and creative writing – or a lens on history, culture and geography.
